At Casa Rural Parada Real, we are deeply committed to sustainability and caring for the environment. We believe it is our responsibility to help preserve our beautiful natural surroundings for future generations. Below, we share all the actions and practices we follow to be a sustainable, environmentally friendly rural guesthouse.
Dehesia
At Casa Rural Parada Real we take a responsible, local approach to our commitment to the environment.
We are proud to work with Dehesia, an organic natural cosmetics brand from Extremadura.
Their formulas are made with ingredients from the dehesa, such as pomegranate, calendula, rosemary and olive, and contain no parabens, silicones, sulphates or synthetic fragrances.
All their products are ACENE organic certified, vegan, cruelty-free, suitable for sensitive skin and made with biodegradable ingredients.
These products are available in all our rooms, offering our guests a wellbeing experience in line with our sustainable values.
In addition, their Refill system greatly reduces the use of plastic packaging, strengthening our commitment to caring for the environment.
Energy efficiency
- LED lighting: We have replaced all conventional bulbs with LED lights, which use less energy and last longer.
- Efficient appliances: Our facilities are equipped with highly energy-efficient appliances, which helps us reduce electricity consumption.
Water management
- Reduced consumption: We have fitted flow reducers on taps and showers to minimise water use without sacrificing our guests' comfort.
- Optional towel change: Towels are changed on request, which helps reduce the water and energy used for washing.
Waste management
- Recycling: We encourage the recycling of paper, plastic, glass and metal, and provide recycling bins throughout our facilities.
- Composting: We have a composter for organic waste, which reduces the amount of rubbish we send to landfill and produces natural fertiliser.
- Less plastic: We encourage reusable and biodegradable products and avoid single-use plastics whenever possible.
Responsible consumption
- Local products: We support local producers by buying food and products from the region, which reduces transport emissions and supports the local economy.
- Eco-friendly products: We choose eco-friendly cleaning products without harsh chemicals, which are safe for both our guests and the environment.
Community commitment
- Supporting the community: We work with local sustainability initiatives and take part in community programmes that promote sustainable development.
- Awareness: We try to raise our guests' awareness of the importance of sustainability and how they can contribute during their stay and in their daily lives.
